Erichsen was a Danish born Surgeon, who rose to President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Britain, President of the Royal Medical and Chirurgical Society and 'Surgeon-Extraordinary' to Queen Victoria. His specialties included 'concussion of the spine' for which he was called upon for court cases. Vol 1 & 2 are in similar condition: light brown calf prize binding with gilt border, gold embossed title and flourishes to spine, dentelles, marbled endpapers and page edges, minor shelf wear, minor foxing, prize paper pasted to inner cover of vol 1. Prize of University of Melbourne to James William Barrett (Later Sir James) 1879. KF Russell tag to both volumes 220x140mm (each)
