Collation: Title, pp [iii]-xxx, 812pp, errata slip. Quain began teaching anatomy in London in 1825. Professor of Anatomy at University College, London 1831-1836. The first edition was 1828. It was frequently edited and translated. Full leather with title to spine, shelf wear with marks, loose cover, small hole in end paper, foxing and tanning. Signatures: Henry W White 1879 on 3 pages. Bookplate: Ex Libris Anatomica KF Russell (213x130mm) 2) WILSON, Sir William James Erasmus (1809-1884) 'Practical and Surgical Anatomy'. Pub. LONDON: Printed for Longman, Orme, Green & Longman, 1838. Collation: Title, pp[iii]-xxvi, 492pp :: 50 illustrations. Erasmus Wilson was demonstrator in anatomy in London. There he devoted himself to dermatology in which he made a fortune. He paid for Cleopatra's needle to be shipped from Egypt to London. He was an original fellow of the RCS and president in 1881. Half leather with marbled boards, shelf wear, signature cut from title page, pencil notes to first few pages, tanning and foxing, vignette diagrams scattered throughout.
