Bronze portrait medal of Sir Isaac Newton, featuring his bust on the obverse, signed 'I.C.' The reverse shows an allegorical seated figure of Science, with the inscription FELIX COGNOSCERE CAVSAS ('Happy in the knowledge of causes,' from Virgil's Georgics ii.490), with the date MDCCXXVI (1726/27), designed by John Croker (1670-1741) (Dia.51mm)
