Munro's Essay on comparative anatomy was printed anonymously without his consent in 1744. The first authorised edition was published by Munro (secundus) in 1783. The translation into French is by Jean Joseph Sue, fils (1760-1830).
Full light brown leather with gold embossed title and floral decoration to spine, impressed and gold border, crack to spine, shelf wear, marbled endpapers, red sprayed edges, heavy foxing and tanning to first pages, lessening later. By an obscure naval surgeon this book is a word for word plagiarism of the lecture on the history of anatomy given by Alexander Monro (Primus) the manuscript of which is in the Otago Medical School Library (Monro MS166). See Russell 640 for discussion on this plagiarism.

Monro the younger was a Scottish anatomist, physician and educator.
