His name is preserved in his ossicle - a separate autie of ossifuation in the pestesior margin of the foranum magnuai of the occipital bone. This is described and illustrated in his Osteogeniam factuum which is an outstanding description of the faetal bones. Kerckring also described the valuulae conniventes of the intestine, to which his name is attached but these had previously by Fallopius.'
