An excellent draftsman, he illustrated all his own works. The plates are by Bell and, except for plate xi, all are hand coloured. A particularly fine copy of the rarest of all books by Bell.' (Russell) Rebound by Russell in quarter read leather and red buckram, in good condition. Title page damp stained top RH and a few marks/spots. Contents are toned with a little occasional soiling. Inscription on the fly leaf 'Hune libruan yue in memorian servanduas Gulm. Mitchell M.D. L. Barlaw donavit Nov. 4th 1818'.
