Vasling studied and taught at Padua. It was in the dissecting room that Wirsung discovered the pancreatic duct. He became professor of anatomy, surgery and botany at Padua.
His book was printed many times and translated into Dutch, German, Italian and English. This, the first illustrated edition, is rare. The first edition of 1641 had no illustrations.
