Clem Christesen Letter and Meanjin Papers No. 3-16 Assembly of early issues accompanied by a letter from founder/editor Christesen. Volume 1, No.3, April 1941 (numbered edition of 250) contains a handwritten letter from Christesen's New Farm address ….in part: "Dear Professor, Many sincere thanks for your welcome subscription to Meanjin Papers and also for your comments…. Still we think it is worthwhile struggling on in the absence of any other literary publication in this State. But what we could do if we had £10 behind us for each issue! I shall try to buy back a copy of No.1 you - first edition now exhausted." Recipient is highly likely Professor J.V. Duhig who is acknowledged in latter issues as a guarantor for the magazine. This assembly is the full run from No.3 to No.12 (Christmas 1942) and a bound Volume 2 when Meanjin went quarterly. Four issues complete with covers, Contents, and an Index for volumes 1 & 2 (1940-43). Condition is fair to good, early issues have aged and oxidised covers, contents lightly toned. Some water staining to the letter and some edges. The bound volume has aged covers, contents lightly toned, otherwise very clean and well bound. (22x14cm)
