Three WWII Borneo Souvenirs
1 - 'Greetings from Balikpapan' card featuring a war weary monkey cover and a real photo of the camp pasted in…'with love and kisses for my sweetheart, from Harry.'
2 - 'Captured Tarakan Borneo July '45.' written in pencil to the rear flyleaf of this Japanese book of inspirational poetry for soldiers. Printed in Showa 18 (1943) Condition is poor pages very tanned, dog eared, paper spine loss to lower 4cm and back 4 pages almost split from staples.
3 - Tarakan Bebas (Tarakan is Free!) 4 propaganda flyers dropped to the locals, showing the advance of Australian troops in the liberation of Borneo, the reverse showing starving villagers. 18x13cm (book)
