WWII Army Education Service. Current Affairs Bulletin Initially produced by the Army Education Service and issued weekly to officers who were instructed to lead discussion groups of soldiers. The Foreword of the Introduction booklet states….. 'Instruction in current affairs has been introduced as part of military training. Experience elsewhere has established that knowledge of current events supported by a well informed background of historical and economic significance is an excellent basis on which to build morale…… the Australian Military Forces know no politics and therefore controversial domestic politics must be excluded from these discussions. Your duty is to keep the men under your command authoritatively informed on the relation of current events to their one great task - the defeat of the enemy'. Lot comprises the Introductory booklet and the first 21 issues (Vol.1 complete) from April 1942. Further a broken run of 31 booklets through to October 1945. The Current Affairs Bulletin eventually morphed into a booklet with wide ranging topics for general distribution. Finally, after a long and erudite run it ceased publication in 1998. Condition varies, earlier issues are water stained and have a string binding dent to the top. Some foxing and shelf dust staining. Early AIF issues are scarce. (24x16cm)
