The Boy in the Bush. D. H. Lawrence and M.L. Skinner Pub. Martin & Secker, London 1924. Second impression August 1924, 1st edition, August 1924. 369pp. A barely remembered, yet worthwhile, entry in the Lawrence canon. Lawrence stayed in Mollie Skinner's Perth guest house in 1922, where she introduced him to her draft novel The House of Ellis. This was rewritten by Lawrence and published as The Boy in the Bush in August 1924. Skinner's brother Jack was the subject of Lawrence's novel Kangaroo. Made into an eponymous TV mini-series in 1984. Natural linen boards are aged and soil darkened. Spine has insect depredations to the title area and bottom. Toned preliminaries, text block untrimmed to the base. Contents lightly toned but straight and clean. Binding good.
