Account of the wreck of the ‘Alert' off Sorrento in December 1893 with only one survivor. Reports on the enquiry and subsequent successful suing of Huddart Parker line by Mrs. Kilpatrick, wife of the second Engineer, claiming the Alert was unseaworthy. Also backgrounding of the common disrepair of coastal shipping.
Later rebinding in blue faux calf is good. Text block dusted to top surface. Contents mildly toned, overall very clean and unhandled. (19x13cm)
