Signed & dated 'J H Carse 1872' lower right on rock below Aboriginal figures, both wearing cloaks, one with spear.
This work is possibly no. 242, 'Mt Dromedary from Hobb's Point [Narooma]' exhibited in the 1873 NSW Academy of Arts exhibition.
In the subsequent 1875 exhibition the artist, also entered five NSW South Coast views including four with titles featuring Wagonga River & Heads, Narooma (no's 16, 17, 19, 50 & 51).
