Robinsons, London. M DCC XCIV. [1794]. First issue, first edition. This is the atlas of plates to accompany the text volume, but almost never found together. 'The 28 plates are magnificently realistic, all are drawn and most were etched or engraved by Bell. Seven were engraved by J. Beugo. This the first issue has an extra leaf 38*: 'Supplementary explanation to Plate V of the bones'. Copies have been noted without the printed title and a copy has been seen with two of the etchings in an early state with note unfinished signed by Bell.' (Russell, British Anatomy 60). Full comprehensive collation available on request. A significant work and scarce in this state. Later binding in half marbled leather with marbled paper boards, lightly aged. Half title and preliminaries are foxed. Text is toned to the edges, occasional finger soiling to outer margin, sparse mild foxing, overall very good for age. Refer to images. Bookplate for K.F.
