(105x170mm) 2) COOPER, Bransby Blake (1792-1853) 'Lectures on Osteology, includes the Ligaments which connect the bones of the Human Skeleton'. Pub. London: Samuel Highley, 32 Fleet Street 1844, 272pp plus adverts. Bransby Cooper was an army surgeon who studied under his uncle Astley Cooper and was elected President of the Royal Medical Society of Edinburgh and then appointed Chair of Anatomy and eventually Surgeon of Guy's Hospital. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1829 and became Arris & Gale Professor of Human Anatomy and Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Member of the Council & Hunterian Orator. Impressed dark brown board with gold leaf title to spine, cracked spine cover and chipped, some foxing, tanning and spots throughout.
