Hunter gives the first description of the increase in sedimentation rate of the blood which occurs in inflammation. The portrait is by Sharp after Reynolds and dated 1788. Russell had this bound in full light brown morocco, gilt decorated and inside dentelles by Green of Melbourne in 1936. Ligthly aged, spine a little faded. Portrait frontispiece foxed and damp stained, title toned. The great majority of pages have mild text offsetting and occasional foxing. Some pages 121-164 are overtly affected. Final section of 8 plates has damp toning and foxing. There is a small number of pencil underlines, and a long disagreeing notation to the bottom margin of one page. Refer to images.
