'Dionis was an excellent surgeon and anatomist who was appointed by Louis XIV in 1671 to the demonstratorship in operative surgery at the Jardin Royal in Paris.' (Russell RACS p. 52) His works on surgery and anatomy were widely used and even translated into Chinese. The English edition of his anatomy was translated from the third French edition. 'It was entered under Michaelmas Term, November 1702.' (Russell British Anatomy 264) Later rebound in half calf on brown boards, a little rubbed and spine sunned.
