OTHER NOTES: "I first met Pro Hart in the mid 1970s when I travelled to Broken Hill to see the Anglican rector there, Rev. Ed Byford. Both he and Pro were avid organ players. Through repeated holiday visits over subsequent years, Pro and I became great friends, and like all who knew him, I was amazed by his generosity. On a daily basis, he received multiple and diverse requests for donations, and my recollection is that he said yes to everything.
It was on one of my visits that I challenged Pro to create some really meaningful religious art, and what better subject than the Stations of the Cross? Pro had slipped away from his Catholic roots, but rose to the challenge magnificently, imbuing these wonderful paintings not just with faith, but with complexity and a very personal passion.
It was my hope that this series would eventually be displayed in church, but there was something of a traditionalist bias at that time against what might be termed 'modern' art; so the works stayed with me, and I have treasured them for forty years. I saw first hand how Pro put his heart and soul into their creation."
