Published and financed by Mary Harpur (and her family) 16 years after her husband's death. Preface by the editor claims that 'no full edition of his works was ever published' during his lifetime except for a 'collection of his sonnets (which) was brought out somewhere in the year 1840.'
Additional to his poetry there is a short section of translations from the Iliad to finish.
Reissued in different forms in subsequent years, this first edition is uncommon.
Green cloth boards are aged and marked, gilt titled and decorated spine reasonable for age. Bookplate for Hugh Peden Steel, flyleaf absent, foxing to preliminaries. Contents clean and well bound, internal binding crack at p.304. Mildly cocked. (19x13cm)
