The Antipodean No.1-3 (Complete), 1893-1897 Original Austral Literature
Two items, the first being a George Robertson published issues 1 & 2 bound into one volume, dated 1893 & 1894. NLA states this is reprint of the Chatto & Windus London issues. Contains original stories and articles including first publication of the Geebung Polo Club.
Second item is the third issue dated 1897, published by George Robertson, (as per the cover - title page states Chatto & Windus). This has around 34 pages of advertisements many for Toowoomba businesses. Contents include first publication of stories and poetry by A.B. Paterson (co-editor), Edward Dyson, Steele Rudd, Rolf Boldrewood and others. Also an inserted broadsheet poem by Paterson, 'The Scorcher and the Howling Swell'. Articles on the Maori and Indigenous Australians, meteorology etc.
Half calf bound volume a little worn, overall very good for age. The thin paper covered 1897 volume 3 has a chipped and soiled cover and losses to rear. Text clean and straight, well stapled. (24x16cm)
