Plazzoni was a Professor of anatomy and surgery at Padua. Aranzi was born in Bologna and was a pupil of Vesalius. Elected Professor of medicine, surgery and anatomy at Bolonia, later becoming physician to Gregory Xlll. His book on the fetus was first printed in 1564. 'Aranzi believed the maternal and foetal circulations to be separate. He described the ductus arteriosus and ductus venosis in the foetus, and the corpora Arantii in the heart valves. Incidently, he was the first to record a pelvic deformity.' (Garrison and Morton 464). Gregor Nyman was a German Anatomist, Botanist and Wittenberg University Professor. Adrian van der Spieghel succeeded Casseri in the chair of anatomy at Padua (Garrison & Morton 61.2).
