Simon (1816-1904) was the first medical officer of health for the City of London 1848. Later become the great sanitary reformer and pathologist. Also surgeon to St Thomas's Hospital. Published English Sanitary Institutions, 1890. This was Simon's second annual report. Printed red wrappers as issued which are stained and chipped. With stamp of General Board of Health Jan 6 1851. Signature of Charles Singer (1876-1960) on fly leaf and signature of Henry Shannon 1950 on cover and his bookplate. Text corners bumped and rounded while the contents are quite clean and unhandled. Later wrapped in loose boards and placed in red slip case. Book label for K.F. Russell. (216x140mm)
