LONDON: Printed for William and Joseph Marshall at the Bible in Newgate- Street, where you may be supplied with the same author's other books intituled Select Observations of English Bodies [1704] Tipped in portrait facing title page. Cooke (1614-1693) came from Warwick. His book was first printed in 1648 then 1662, 1676, 1685, 1693, 1700, 1704, 1717. The anatomy was included in the 1676 and subsequent editions. On the title page in ink is 1684. There was no edition in 1684. This is the fifth edition; but the date of 'Oct 1684' at the back of A2, refers to the fourth edition, which bears the date 1685 on the title page. This is obviously wrong for it was printed after Cooke's death and revised by Gibson. 1704 is the most likely date for it is entered in the Term Catalogue under Michaelmas Term, November, 1704. Expanded information contained in Russell's British Anatomy, 202. ESTC N10306. Full leather binding with later spine and corners. Worn and bumped, insect losses to front.
