DU LAURENS, Andre. Historia Anatomica Humani Corporis et Singularum eius Partium Multis controversijs and observationibus novis illustrata. Pub. FRANCOFORTI (Frankfurt): apud Matthaum Beckerum impresis Theodorici de Brij viduæ & duorum filorum. 1600. Engraved title, [11] leaves, 442pp., [14] leaves :: 26 plates included in pagination. Andre du Laurens was professor of anatomy at Montpellier and then physician to Marie de Medici and to King Henri IV. His plates are copied from Vesalius Valverde and others. This is a particularly fine copy of the book. Inserted at back is a leaf of manuscript in Latin with prescriptions against the bite of a mad dog (16th or 17th century hand). Full calf binding, front board with gilt embossed armorial for Charles Blount, 8th Lord Mountjoy, Earl of Devonshire. Hinges cracking, wear to corners and spine. Some gatherings darkened, though generally text is clean and shows minimal handling. Ink sig. to title page, Johannes Hacket, armorial bookplate 'AHC' and bookplate Ex Libris Anatomica K.F. Russell. (305x200mm)
