The first 6 Reports from The Central Board Appointed to Watch Over the Interests of the Aborigines in the Colony. First report has paragraphs such as 'The Criminal Law as it affects the black population', 'Vaccination', 'Aboriginal girl at Benalla' (interesting application from Banfield land on behalf of a girl living in a hotel), 'The NSW blacks on the Murray,' etc. etc. Also recorded are verbal reports from settlers, a longer report on health, a granular breakdown of stores distributed at 28 locations and 'Stations'…' Boort - Lower Loddon. H. Godfrey. 11th September 1860. 1,200lbs. flour, 60lbs. sugar, 60lbs. tea, 3 doz. Pipes, 20 pairs of blankets, 36 serge shirts, 20 pairs of trowsers,' etc. Other reports are similar, though start adding tables on crimes, giving names, crime and sentencing. In Portland, 1861, Billy Wallaby was convicted and sentenced to 3 years of hard labour on the roads for manslaughter. Government reports were printed in low quantities for distribution to Parliamentarians, Departments and various libraries. Overall condition is good. The first 5 reports are disbound, the final 1869 report of 50 pages has a very soiled cover, contents though are fresh and clean. (34x22cm)
