Fact and fiction combined in this tale vying for verisimilitude with the use of specialist consultants for Aboriginal accounts and flora/fauna with scientific named footnotes. Prouts illustrations appear to be unique to this work. Sarah Eglinton Bowdich (1791-1856) was an English author, illustrator, traveler, zoologist, and botanist.
