Joseph Pancoast was an American Surgeon, who became known for cosmetic surgery specifically. He was Chairman of the Department of Surgery and then Chairman of the Department of Anatomy at Jefferson Medical College. Vol 1 text: half leather with marbled boards and hand labelled title, leather crumbling, foxed and tanned, some marks and squashed/crumpled end papers. Vol 2 plates: quarter leather and board, cover and endpapers in poor condition, plates re-attached with tape, tanning and foxing to colour plates, plates reassembled after moisture waving.
