The drawing served as a preliminary study for the illustration of the hanging published in The Bulletin, Vol. 12, No. 641, 28 May 1892 (45×29.5cm). Together with a carte de visite photograph of Deeming wearing a long coat and top hat, with a handwritten brief account of his life and crimes verso (15x7cm)
