OTHER NOTES: Captain John Aldridge (1794-1855) was a prominent colonial figure in Tasmania, serving as pilot for the port of Hobart Town, and Marine Surveyor of the Derwent and Tamar Fire and Life Assurance Co. In 1855 he departed for England aboard the barque 'Derwentwater', however he died at sea six days before reaching the coast of England.
