Gibson was born in Brampton in Westmoreland, He graduated M.D. at Leyden in 1675. He was physician-general to the Army (appointed in 1718-19). Gibson's book was first published anonymously 'By a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians London' in 1892. Other editions were 1684, 1688, 1694, 1697, 1703, 1716, and 1721. Collation Brief: Title, pp iii-x, [1]leaf, 144pp. Saunders was a prominent London physician who wrote extensively. He was appointed physician extraordinary to the Prince Regent 1807. Full red leather with gold embossed Greek key design and floral border, title to spine; dentelles, marbled endpapers, foxing, tanning with some marks, shelf wear; contents re-cased as a remboîtage.
