Artillery; appointed to 27th N.I. 30 October 1854; to medical charge of 19th Cavalry (formerly Fane's Horse), 13 February 1860; Surgeon 24 October 1864; to 21st N.I. (formerly 9th Punjab Infantry) 15 October 1866; Garrison Surgeon, Fort William 22 June 1869; to 18th Bengal Cavalry 6 May 1873; to 13th Bengal Cavalry (Lancers) 16 February 1874. Service: Indian Mutiny with 1st Regiment Hodson's Horse. China in 1860 with Fane's Horse; also Abyssinia with 21st Native Infantry.
