Waterloo Medal 1815
Awarded to the Hospital Assistant James Strachan of the Medical Staff. The first medal issued by the British Government to all soldiers.
Biography: 1827 Assistant Surgeon Surgeons Mate on the Hospital Staff 7 June 1813. Hospital Assistant to the Forces 12 January 1815: half pay 25 May 1816; full pay 25 December 1816: Assistant Surgeon 92 Foot 30 December 1819: half pay 15 February 1821: full pay Newfoundland Vet Cos 23 September 1824: Died in Newfoundland 24 March 1827. Service: Peninsular War 1813-1814; Waterloo 1815.
