Inscribed verso to stretcher in later hand(s) indicating that the subject is the governess of the (William) Robertson family of Hobart; also the name Anne Grant; as well as referencing a possibly related work, that being a study of Jessie Robertson (daughter of William) by Thomas Bock in the collection of National Portrait Gallery, Canberra (image), which is said to be presented in a matching R L Hood gilt frame - label for same extant on this work.
