A Romance of the North Australian Bush - Leuv-We of Kalmogorr Arthur Livingstone Brewer. Self Published, Los Angeles 1946. 298pp. An ‘Australian' publishing curiosity. Commences with a page of ‘Preconditions, which the reader should accept, to be Mentally Qualified to be entertained by the story of Leuv-We.' Fictional tale of mixed race daughter of a ‘white' station owner. The final 8 pages, ‘Credit Where Due' provides Brewer's raison d'etre for writing and self publishing (after many rejections). Fly leaf carries the request that any review should be mailed in full to the author within 30 days of publication. Brewer, a journalist, was born 1892 in Leichhardt, served in the AIF, wounded at Gallipoli, married an American, migrated to California in 1922, returning to Australia in the early 1950s. Original gilt titled green cloth boards, are a little aged, preliminaries foxed, text fairly clean and straight. (21x15cm)
