The title mentions 20 plates, but in fact only 17 are present. They are based on the figures of Albinus. Innes was a Scottish Anatomist who studied under Alexander Monro. Uncut copy in original boards, printed label, heavy shelf wear with water spots, foxing tanning, waving, some shadowing, notes and diagram to endpapers. Bookplate: Ex Libris Anatomic KF Russell. LONDON: Messrs Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown and Green... 1826. 5th edition. Collation: Title, pp[v]-xviv, 518pp, [38] leaves :: 34 plates. Includes a note by Astley Cooper dated 1820 and another manuscript note on a medical case of a dislocated shoulder in 1830 signed with initials AC. The hand is very similar to that of Astley Cooper. The watermark is 1831. Ashley Cooper was surgeon to Guy's Hospital and surgeon to the King. The best known surgeon of his time and an outstanding teacher of anatomy and surgery. Quarter morocco with marbled boards (worn), shelf wear, title page scripted name torn out, some shadowing, foxing, tanning. KF Russell tag. Pub. LONDON: Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown, Green and Longman.... 1834. Fourth Edition. Collation: Half-title, title, pp[v]-xliv, 676pp :: 2 plates. Laennec was a French Physician who became Professor at the College de France. His specialty was treating chest infections and he is known for inventing an early form of the stethoscope.
