The work came out in fascicules. Tipped in on endpaper of volume 2 is a list of the fascicules as sold. This is one of the most remarkable collections of surgical cases ever put together. It gives an astonishing picture of clinical surgery in the 19th century. Hutchinson was surgeon to the London Hospital and one of the most remarkable and astute clinicians London had ever seen. Chapters include images of inherited syphilis and melanosis.
