Naval General Service Medal 1847 With clasp for Java. Awarded to G.S. Rutherford Assistant Surgeon Served during the Java campaign from 4 August to 18 September 1811. A total of 33 HM ships were involved, and 695 clasps were awarded. The medal recognised the Navy's contribution to the capture of Java, which was subsequently returned to the Dutch in 1814.
