'Winslow was a professor of anatomy, physic and surgery at Paris. He was one of the best known teachers of anatomy in Europe. His book first published in Paris in 1732 was translated into English, 7 editions being printed. It was also translated into German. The plates are from Eustachius.
It is presumed that after the sheets were printed the publisher changed from N. Prevost to A Bettesworth, the latter issuing his own general title for both volumes. Copies have been seen in which the Bettesworth title replaces the Prevost title for the first volume (and dated 1734)

Full leather boards with replaced spine and corners is typically stained and worn, spine raggy at the top. Both title pages soiled to top margin. Generally, text toned and darkened at the margins but fairly clean and unhandled. The four folding plates toned and foxed. Refer to images. With signatures of Alex Campbell on title.
