Caulfield deals in all with 111 persons who would rightly be called characters. A publisher and print seller who thought rightly that his biographies of remarkable persons would be popular, each one with a portrait or full figure engraving published independently in previous years.
Original half calf binding over marbled boards (label for E. Fisher, Stationer & c. 33 Cannon Street City) are rubbed and bumped. Internal hinge cracked on one volume, overall binding is firm.
