1915 Grafton Secession Proposal - A New State, Proposed Separation of Northern New South Wales. A Statement compiled and published by Committee appointed at a Public Meeting held in Grafton, in January, 1915. Argus Print, Grafton 1915. 22pp. + map. An example of outliers rebelling against 'The Evils of Centralisation.' Apparently there was an historical precedent held in the New England in 1856. The map shows the proposed state line drawn roughly on the 34th Parallel, dropping slightly down to include Kempsey. Western boundary was the eastern side of the Darling River. Some consideration given to including some of southern Queensland but this was dropped. Paper cover is aged and toned, marks and pencil writing to back cover. Contents clean, though oxidised staples have stained their puncture points. Refer to images. (22x14cm)
