South Australian, Tullie Cornthwaite Wollaston (1863-1931) is known as the Father of Australian Opal. The first to introduce Australian superior opals to the world and a very active miner and naturalist. This semi-autobiographical work was written in conjunction with the opal display at the 1924 Wembley Exhibition. Covers his involvement in White Cliffs, Innamincka, Coober Pedy and Queensland fields. Uncommon. Gilt titled black cloth boards are a little worn and faded, with an insect hole under the spine title. Preliminaries darkened, with very light random foxing throughout text.
