Sections include gold digging, Aboriginal lore, pleasures of the Bush and station life on his brother's property west of MacKay. Finch Hatton was an educated (Eton) observer. Many of the plates (fairly ‘crude' sketches likely by the author), feature Aboriginals. Original red cloth boards with gilt embossed Advance Australia Coat of Arms have bumped and worn corners. Gilt title to faded spine, 1886 owners neat name to top of ffep. Some plates are loose and have ‘Campbelltown Free Library' stamp verso. Crack and loosening to the binding of one section. (20x14cm)
