CORBOULD, Edward Henry (British 1815-1905) Duel Scene from 'The Corsican Brothers,' 1852. This play by D Boucicault, based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas père, was first performed in England at the Princess's Theatre, London, in 1852. No signature apparent. According to the J S Maas certificate of authenticity verso, this work was painted while the play was running, with the dying figure being a portrait of the actor Charles Kean, and the standing figure Alfred Wigan.
